Easter Events
The Streamwood Park District will be celebrating Easter with
several events. They will have a Twilight Egg Hunt (Community
Center), Easter Egg Hunt (Hoosier Grove Park), Egg Dive (Park Place)
and the Hop Stop Bunny Breakfast (Community Center).

Arbor Day
Streamwood is proud to be designated as a Tree City USA community.
In celebration, each year, the Village holds Arbor Day festivities
in conjunction with local schools. These festivities include
tree plantings and educational information on the maintenance and
importance of trees in our community.
Guns N' Hoses Charity Basketball Game
Off duty personnel from the Streamwood Police and Fire
Departments play a basketball game against each other. This
annual event raises funds to benefit local charities and Streamwood
families in need. The 10th Annual Guns N' Hoses game will be
held on April 18, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Streamwood High School, 701
W. Schaumburg Road, Streamwood.

Student Government Day
Seniors from Streamwood High School "take over the town"
for the day at this worthwhile event. Student Government Day
is an opportunity for students to spend the day in a hands-on
approach to local government.
Memorial Day
Schedule of events for our annual Memorial Day service include a
candlelight vigil, 24 hour vigil guard, and static display of
equipment. A ceremony is held on Sunday of the holiday weekend
honoring all those who have served in defense of our country. This moving tribute will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2008 to honor all those who have served in defense of our
country at the Veteran’s Memorial (301 E. Irving Park Road).

Streamwood
Stride
Join the fun with the 8th Annual Streamwood Stride on
June 14, 2008. Races
include a 10K and 5K Run/Walk, Double Derby (in conjunction with
Bartlett Park District) and 1-Mile Fun Run.
Participants enjoy a pancake breakfast following the event.
The race is held at Park Place Family Recreation Center (550
S. Park Boulevard)

4th of July Fireworks
Celebrate our country’s independence with a display held
at dusk at Dolphin Park on Park Blvd.
Summer Celebration
A
three-day, sun-filled event for the whole family. Enjoy a
Saturday morning parade, carnival, craft show, activities for the children,
games, food/beer tent, Sunday morning golf outing, and
entertainment each day on both the children’s stage as well as the
main stage. This event is celebrated the last full weekend in

National Night Out
An evening designed to heighten crime and drug prevention
awareness. Neighborhoods spend the evening outdoors on
National Night Out by giving crime a "going away" party.
Touch-A-Truck
Get
up close and personal with the big rigs!
This annual event is held at Park Place Family Recreation Center (550 S. Park Blvd.). Contact

Fire Department Open
House
This Open House is held in conjunction with Fire
Prevention Week. Highlights may include hands-on adult fire
extinguisher training, fire safety puppet shows, kids fire agility
course, vehicle extraction demonstration, tours of the fire station
and refreshments.
Pumpkinfest
This
annual festival includes a kid fun run, hay rides, games and pumpkin
pie eating contests. Pumpkins,
hay bales and corn will be for sale throughout the month.

Spooky Oaks Haunted
Woods Walk
Ghouls, ghosts and goblins will test your nerves as you walk
through our Spooky Oaks Haunted Woods on Saturday, October 25 from
6:30-10:30 p.m. For
the faint at heart, we have a lights-on stroll through the woods
from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Held the last
weekend before Halloween at Shady Oaks Park, 777 Bartlett Road, the
Spooky Oaks Haunted Woods Walk will put you in the
Halloween “Spirits”. Contact

Halloween Hours
Trick or treat hours typically are 3:00pm - 7:00pm.
Children are asked to wear brightly colored costumes and stay within
the limits of their home.

Veterans’ Day
This annual observance salutes all of America’s men and
women in uniform. The Veterans’ Day observance is always
held on November 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial (301
E. Irving Park Road).
Police Department
Open House
The Open House is held in recognition of Law Enforcement
Day. Highlights may include Police K-9 Patrols, DARE Vehicle
Contests, Classic Patrol Cars and information regarding child safety
seats and firearms safety.

Luminaria
Volunteers, civic organizations and families help bring
the holiday spirit to Streamwood by lining Park Boulevard, the
Veteran’s Memorial and Village Hall as well as other areas
throughout town with luminaria. After visiting with Santa and
Mrs. Claus, join us in front of the Veteran’s Memorial for our
annual holiday tree lighting. Luminaria is held the first
Friday of December.
Breakfast
with Santa
Join Santa and Mrs. Claus for breakfast and that special chat at
the Hoosier Grove Farmstead Barn.
