The Community Development Department is responsible for all building, planning, zoning, and property maintenance functions within the Village. The Community Development Department enforces all building, zoning, and property maintenance codes. The Community Development Department works in cooperation with the Fire and Public Works Departments to provide business occupancy and construction inspections throughout the year. Department staff provide assistance and administration to the Planning and Zoning Board.

Department inspectors review new and existing developments and structures to ensure compliance with required construction standards. The Department operates a property maintenance inspection program focusing on existing structures and developments in residential, commercial, and industrial areas.
