The Public Works Department operates and maintains the Village's streets, water and sewer systems. As part of street maintenance, Public Works manages all streetlights, sidewalks, parkway trees, snow plowing and all road construction projects. The Department has 100 miles of streets and over 300 cul-de-sacs to maintain.

The Department manages the Village's water and sewer infrastructure. This includes monitoring our water quality, through management of our storm and sanitary sewers, as well as the distribution of Lake Michigan drinking water. The Department utilizes a state-of-the-art water metering system that is remotely read twice a day by a computer.

The Public Works Department is also responsible for maintaining the Village's fleet. The Village's fleet consists of over 100 vehicles. This includes police cars, fire engines, inspection vehicles, snow plows and trucks.
