Can I schedule a tour of the fire station or visit from the fire truck for a block party?

Does the department install child car seats?
Yes. Both the Police and Fire Departments offer this service. Call our administrative offices at (630) 736-3650 to schedule an installation by a certified technician. To learn more, click here.
Does the department offer CPR or Stop the Bleed classes?
The Department offers CPR classes for individuals who may need certification for employment, as well as for friends and families interested in learning this important life-skilling skill. Can I burn leaves or other debris in my fire pit?
The Village prohibits the burning of leaves, yard waste and trash outdoors. Outdoor fireplaces, with a lid and/or a spark arrester are allowed for recreational purposes only. Fireplace logs are the only wood that is allowed to be used. For more information, download the Outdoor Fireplace Handout.
Will the department take and dispose of my old prescription medications or needles?
Drop off your unused or expired pills at the Police Department lobby (401 E. Irving Park Road) in the large gray collection box , 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Pills should be in their original container or in a sealed plastic bag. Drop off your other unused medications and supplies, including used or unused sharps, medication needles, liquid/powder/gel and any other medications, at Fire Station # 31 (1204 S. Park Avenue), Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. To prevent injury, we request that any used or unused needles be in a red sharps container or other puncture-proof containers.
Can I come to the department to check my blood pressure?
Sure! As long as crews are in quarters, they will be happy to assist you with a blood pressure check. Any of our stations will provide this service. During regular business hours (8:00am-4:30 pm), you can come to our administrative offices (1204 S Park) for a check.
Does the department take paint, oil, gas, or old fire extinguishers for disposal?
No. One Day Household Hazardous Waste collections sponsored by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and local governments provide opportunities for the safe disposal of household hazardous waste. Check their website for dates and locations at here.
Does the department have a Cadet or Explorer program for teenagers?

How do I obtain a residential lock box for the department to enter my home during an emergency?
If you live alone or have mobility issues, we offer residents the opportunity to get a lock box that allows us to enter your home safely with a key in the event of a medical emergency. Click here for details on our Residential Knox Box program.
