Home MenuHousing Repair Programs
The Village is piloting two grant programs to help homeowners with code correcting home renovations and repairs. The Single-family Home Repair Program aids income-eligible homeowners on larger scale projects. The Handyman Repair Program is available to anyone who needs help with small, simple repair projects. Both programs are administered by North West Housing Partnership (NWHP). Funds are limited and some restrictions apply.
Single-family Home Repair Program
The program assists income-qualified homeowners to correct code violations and address long over-due home repairs that affect the health or safety of their families. Owner-occupied units may qualify for repairs for up to $25,000 in and 0% interest. For details or to apply, please visit NWHP or call (847) 969-0561.
Handyman Repair Program
This program offers residents of owner-occupied single-family homes assistance with minor repairs. Adding new smoke/CO alarm, installing bathroom grab bars, or minor electrical and plumbing repairs may be eligible. Homeowners may qualify for up to $1,000 in one-time assistance. Please note – cosmetic repairs are not allowed. For details or to apply, please visit NWHP or call (847) 969-0561.
Additional questions on either program can be directed to the Community Development Department at communitydevelopment@streamwood.org or 630/736-3843.
If you are interested in just smoke alarm installation, please be advised that our Fire Department does offer this service free of charge to residents. Check out their program here.
