Patrol Officers make up the Field Services Division of the Streamwood Police Department. There are a total of 32 uniformed officers, with rotating shifts, that are available 24 hours per day, 365 days a year, to protect life and property, preserve peace and order, prevent and detect crime, while enforcing state and local laws to ensure the Streamwood community is a safe and enjoyable place to live and work.

The division has two patrol teams per 12-hour shift, which work on an alternating schedule. Each patrol team is supervised by a patrol sergeant and each shift is supervised by a patrol commander.

Officers assigned to this division perform a variety of duties, which include but are not limited to:

  • Respond to both emergency and non-emergency calls for service
  • Provide response to reports of criminal activity
  • Apprehend criminals and wanted persons
  • Respond to motor vehicle accidents
  • Enforce motor vehicle violations
  • Crime prevention patrols and initiatives
