BodyCamera

Nationwide, the use of body worn cameras has become a best practice for police departments and have become increasingly common. In 2021, under House Bill 3653 (SAFE-T Act), the Illinois General Assembly required the wearing of body worn cameras for municipalities under 50,000 residents by January 1, 2025.

As of September of 2024, all Streamwood Police Officers have been equipped with the Axon Body3 Body Worn Cameras. These cameras will be activated whenever the police are responding to a call for service. Casual conversations do not require the activation of cameras. Body Worn Cameras have already provided crucial evidence in countless cases throughout the country and we are excited to have implemented them in our Village.
