Is overnight street parking allowed?

No. Per Village Ordinance, street parking is prohibited from 1:00 am - 5:00 am, except where noted in specific subdivisions or a permit is obtained. Permits for overnight street parking are available here.

Can the police conduct speed or stop sign enforcement on my street?

Yes. We rely on our residents to help us identify on-going traffic issues in residential neighborhoods. Please request extra enforcement by contacting your beat sergeant or the day shift commander at 630-736-3700.

Is there a rule against loud music or parties?

Yes. Village Ordinance prohibits loud noises that disturb the public, specifically during the hours of 10:00 pm - 7:00 am on weekdays, and 10:00 pm - 10:00 am on the weekends. Officers may need to speak with any complainant if the violating persons do not voluntarily reduce the noise.

How do I get a copy of a report?

A copy of a police report may be obtained by submitting a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. All requests may be submitted in person, by mail or facsimiles transmission, or electronically at the police station or through the Village Clerk’s office. For your convenience, the Request for Public Records form is found here.

Can vehicles park across the sidewalk?

Blocking the sidewalk with a vehicle is prohibited from March 1 through November 30. Vehicles parked in residential driveways cannot block the sidewalk or parkway between the hours of 7:00 am - 9:00 pm, Monday through Friday; 9:00 am - 9:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday.

Can an officer check my house while I am out of town?

Yes. A vacation or security check alerts your area beat officer that you will be away during a specified period of time. The officers will check the exterior of your property as time permits. There is no guarantee on the timing or frequency of these checks as they are dependent on the officer’s call volume and other assignments. Should an incident occur at your location, having this alert set up gives public safety responders a method to contact you or a representative of your choice while you’re away. To request this service, complete the form found here.
