The Streamwood Police Department delivers services through the practice of neighborhood-based policing. The Village of Streamwood is divided into four specific areas or patrol beats. A Patrol Officer is always assigned to the area per shift. Additionally, a Patrol Sergeant is assigned to each beat as a liaison.
The Beat Sergeant assigned to each area is responsible for:
- Traffic complaints/issues
- Nuisance neighborhood problems
- Tracking neighborhood activity and crime trends
- Liaison between the community and police department
Additionally, the Beat Sergeants host regularly scheduled beat meetings to solicit questions, understand concerns, and directly communicate with residents within each area.
